Digital and clinical approach to quantifying periodontal tissue changes after crown lengthening surgery: A case series pilot study

Crown lengthening surgery is a common periodontal procedure carried out to increase the amount of tooth exposure for aesthetic or restorative purposes. It crucial clinicians understand effect crown on tissues prevent relapse over treatment. Even though various clinical parameters have been used by researchers in past quantify suprastructure exposed, use digital technology has not widely adopted. The aim this case series was evaluate changes tissue after with both and approaches. This included five patients who underwent at Postgraduate Periodontics Clinic University Otago period six months. Clinical such as probing depth, gingival recession, keratinised height, plaque accumulation, inflammation, phenotype, bone height were measured customised stent baseline 1-, 3-, 6-month post-surgery. Digital impressions also taken along measure volumetric changes. Most significant observed exposure, recession levels, followed depth reduction treated sites. Minimal seen width tissues, levels scores. Volumetric only significantly reduced 6 months healing. found that resulted an volume. through sequential comparable findings.
